Well, cry all you want but we are in Vermont. We are your M.D.'s, Ph.D.'s and the folks who make the real world run. It's not 1950 anymore buddy. We are here and we are the new voice of Vermont and we will make this state move forward. Cast out the old and bring in the new! We will lead this sad country into a modern world.
By: vermontwinter1. on 03 Jan 10, 09:22:35
LOL! We will take over Vermont because we are more educated, have better jobs and make way more money than you can ever dream of. Wast your time with hate but our money and education is the real power and that is what America is about. In the long run you will be cleaning my bathroom...and by the way, get me a glass of red wine near the fire! LOL.

of course these minorities are given the power by the liberal legislaters who are also out of staters. and i totally agree with you about the taxation issue, but that's what happens when you try to have state run health insurance and large scale rehabilitation programs. the saddest part is, we don't even have a conservative choice on the ballet so there won't be industry or a workable tax base to make statewide improvements as long as that is the case.
By: poncethegreat169. on 15 Dec 09, 13:48:12
get the hell out of my state, get off our city councils, get out of our democracy, REAL vermonters want to take the state to whole new levels but due to the firm grip of the tourist industry we have remained in the dark ages. Just look at our neighbors to the east and west, they both have phenomenal countryside and flourishing cities, while VT remains tired and decrepit. legalize it

Included there was the only medical college for the negro population in the country at that time. The men also served in the armed forces, such as the civil war, ww1, ww 2, the Korean War, as well as the Vietnam War. The point here is that although the state is primarily white and has been for some time, this was not always the case. And the choice for the African Americans was usually one based on economics. Many of them removed to Saratoga Springs to work and live.
By: Nello7. on 14 Oct 09, 01:24:49
Believe it or not, Vermont was the first state to repeal slavery laws. Vermont also has many safe houses listed with the Underground Railroad Registry. Many famous African Americans came to live or were born in Vermont, such as Jeffrey Brace, a famous blind slave from Nigeria who was considered to be one of the most well versed men of his time, and the first African American college president in the US, Martin Freeman was born in Rutland. Castleton had a very high negro population in the 1800's.

Degmar, I live in Vermont but have traveled elsewhere...Burlington is large in landspace I guess you could say but on a national level hardly qualifies as a city.
